Dilip Chabaria’s DC design unveiled an all latest sports car concept at the Auto Expo, called the DC Avanti. According to DC, the Avanti is India’s first ever sports car. The DC Avanti is a production version and not in concept stage.
The Avanti built at DC Design’s workshop at Pune. Production will begin in 2013 and DC Design plans to make 300 units in the first 2 years. Bookings will start in February 2012 with deliveries starting late 2013. The new car christened Avanti, is believed to come with a price tag of Rs 30 lakhs.
DC Avanti engine, Operated by a 2.0-liter, Ford Eco Boost 4-cylinder engine. This variable valve timing (VVT) equipped engine churns out 240bhp at 5500rpm and 37.3 kgm of torque at 3500rpm. Its engine is also Euro-V certified and with minor tweaking can also become Euro VI compliant. The standard transmission choice is a 6 speed manual unit, with a 6 speed automatic on offer as an option. The car, which weighs 1,560 kgs will get SRS airbags and ABS as standard safety features.
DC Avanti Supercar unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 by Dileep Chhabria, the man known for modifying or changing every car from the Nano to the Lamborghini. “This is meant for those who aspire to own a sports car but cannot afford a BMW, Ferrari or Porsche. There are lot of young people who want to pay for the feel good factor but can compromise a little on the performance,” said Bonito Chhabria, director, DC.
